Things have been a little crazy at our house lately! Graham went from not changing too much in a few months to making tons of changes in the last few weeks. He went from afraid of trying new things to Mr. Adventure. He was afraid to go to high on the swings, now all I hear at the park is "Higher mom!" He loves running and jumping, especially jumping off things. He jumps off the bed, stairs, couches, anything elevated and he will jump. Over the weekend we were at a hotel for a friend's wedding and he started off afraid of jumping in the pool and clinging to us in the water and by the end he was much more comfortable. It's fun watching him gain confidence!
He still talks all the time and is always full of fun stories. He's getting better at telling us about his day and remembering what happened. He's quite the little helper too!
His current favorite song is the ABC song. He doesn't say the l, m, n, o, p part too clearly yet, but he's getting there. He can also recognize almost all the letters and can pick them out in different places. Occasionally he gets a few letters wrong, but he's getting really good at it! Numbers are still a work in progress. He gets some of them in 1-10 but not as well as the letters.
He loves singing and dancing and going to school. He only has 1 more day of class left and then 1 fun day at the park with his class and then he is done for the summer. He is going to miss his friends this summer! He has really enjoyed going to school and his teachers have said he's really starting to participate a lot more in class activities and they notice how much he has grown.
Recently, he had 2 different sleepovers at Keith's parents house. He LOVES going there to play. He doesn't mind us leaving and does pretty well overnight! He doesn't even flinch when we leave. It is nice getting a great big smile and huge hug when we get to see him again. I miss him so much when he's gone! It's much too quiet around the house.
Some other big news for us is that we are having another little baby boy! Graham is very excited to be a big brother. As he tell us, "It's a very important job." He got that phrase from watching Thomas. He is pretty excited about having a baby around. He LOVES babies. Keith and I are pretty excited to add another little boy to our family in September.
And another round of big news is that Keith got a new job as an Air Traffic Controller. I know we've told a bunch of people about this already but hopefully this will answer questions about the long process we are in.
We are waiting on news for when his training class starts. It's a really long process to apply, get hired, get trained and get started. He started working on his application in spring of 2010. He took an initial test, got selected a year later (they only pick new people twice a year), did some more testing and got a Tentative Offer Letter. Now we wait for a Firm Offer Letter telling us when class is and what airport he will be working at. On his application he had to select 2 states where he would be willing to work. His first choice was Illinois and his second choice was New York. He picked those based on the number of jobs available and likelihood he would be hired. It obviously worked. He will possibly be working at a tower facility in Farmingdale, New York. At the time of his interview this was what they had listed for him. But nothing is final until he gets a letter stating that location. It could still change, we only know that we will definitely be in New York and that Keith will be working at a tower facility.
While we wait for the call saying they are ready to have Keith come to training we are moving! We are going to rent out our townhouse and move to Iowa with my parents. Since Keith can commute to O'hare from any airport we can move to Iowa and Keith can just fly back and forth for work until he gets called. Once he gets a call for training we will move down to Oklahoma City for about 6-8 weeks of training. After training we will head straight to New York so Keith can start work. He will go through another long training in NY. He will work with someone in a tower who will train him on location. This could take 6 months or it could take 2 years. It all depends on the trainer and how quickly Keith can get through all the testing that goes along with training.
Once that training is finished he can request a transfer to another facility. We hope to move back to the Chicago area once he's finished training. We aren't exactly sure when that will be though.
So our house is currently filled with boxes as we figure out what we will use in Iowa, Oklahoma and New York. We are selling stuff, emptying out our house and organizing what we have. It's quite a process and not so easy to get done when Graham is being a "helper". But we are getting things packed up and ready to move so it's a good feeling to be started and this far along!
I think that's all the big news we have right now! I'm hoping that's the only thing, I don't think too much else could change right now!
